Joshua focuses his practice on employment, medical malpractice, and general liability defense for insured and corporate clients. Approximately two-thirds of Joshua’s practice is dedicated to writs and appeals. Joshua has participated in dozens of appellate and writ proceedings in the California Courts of Appeal, the California Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Published decisions in which Joshua has represented a party or amici curiae include Burton v. Cruise (2010) 190 Cal.App.4th 939, 118 Cal.Rptr.3d 613, Haworth v. Superior Court (2010) 50 Cal.4th 372, 112 Cal.Rptr.3d 853, Long Beach Memorial Medical Center v. Superior Court (2009) 172 Cal.App.4th 865, 91 Cal.Rptr.3d 494, and Southern California Housing Rights Center v. Los Feliz Towers Homeowners Association (2005) 426 F.Supp.2d 1061.
Joshua also has an active trial court practice in which he participates or takes lead in all aspects of litigation, from pleadings through trial. In addition to direct engagements, Joshua is routinely asked to assist trial attorneys at other firms with novel and complex legal issues, high-stakes law and motion, trial preparation, and post-trial proceedings.
Joshua graduated cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Loyola Law School in 2003. He graduated cum laude from the University of California at San Diego in 2000. He joined Cole Pedroza in 2007, before which he practiced in two other civil ligation firms.
